A community gathering space located between Gillette and Candee Avenues in Sayville
The Common Ground was born out of the the tragic events of September 11, 2001. A group of community members were inspired to create a reflective space dedicated to the memory of those who were lost.
The park was built through the efforts of numerous volunteers and continues to thrive as a result of their dedication. The park also receives support from the Town of Islip, generous donations from the community, and a grant from Suffolk County.
With its graceful gardens, personalized stone walkways, memorial benches, and Peace Labyrinth - all anchored by The Pamela Raymond Performance Pavilion - this communal space has become a gathering place of peace, joy and inspiration for all.
Getting to know your neighbors is as easy as a walk in the park, at the Common Ground.
